Actress Caylee Cowan donned a dress by Vietnamese designer Nguyen Minh Tuan on the Cannes red carpet this week.
Cowan attended the “Asteroid City” premiere at Cannes on Tuesday in an outfit inspired by Hanoi’s Turtle Tower, a landmark in the middle of the iconic Hoan Kiem Lake.
Using yellow and brown as the dress’ main tones, Tuan wanted to evoke the tower with lights reflecting on it at night.

According to Tuan, Cowan’s entourage contacted him after he released his collection. Thousands of high-quality crystals, stones, and beads were attached to the dress’ see-through material by hand.
During the “Club Zero” premiere at Cannes on Monday, Cowan gave another design by Tuan inspired by the shapes of butterflies seen in the film “Blue Butterfly.” Tuan said he was glad that Cowan chose two of his designs to wear at Cannes events.
“Serving international customers is my long-term goal, as I think that’s the way to improve the quality of Vietnamese fashion products,” he said.
“My team and I have exercised lots of effort on the designs, so I want my customers to appreciate them as much as we do.”
Tuan gained fame after his designs appeared at many domestic and international beauty contests. The designer is working on a new collection, which is expected to be released in July, as part of the 2023 Miss World Vietnam pageant.
Caylee Cowan, born in Los Angeles, California, is known for movies like “Frank and Penelope” (2022), “Willy’s Wonderland” (2021) and “Sunrise in Heaven” (2019).
