American actress Caylee Cowan wowed the Cannes red carpet this week in a dress that took Vietnamese designer Nguyen Minh Tuan over 1,000 hours to complete.
The 25-year-old actress dazzled the French film festival on Tuesday as she approached the screening of her film “Club Zero” in her color-changing sparkly sequin “Blue Butterfly” dress.
The outfit took its inspiration from the 2004 film of the same name.

Tuan said that the dress was handmade by seven artisans who meticulously attached thousands of sparkling crystals to the outfit’s high-quality mesh material. It took the crew 1,100 hours to complete the dress, he said.
According to Tuan, the most difficult part of making the dress was creating the color-changing effect.
Upon receiving the dress, Cowan feels many compliments to Tuan.

And the designer himself was overjoyed to see his work on display at the beachside city’s great annual event.
“Since my school years, I have watched the Cannes red carpet often because this is the convergence of cinematic quintessence, the pinnacle of beauty for many cultures and countries around the world,” he said.
“I have dreamed of the day that my creations would be chosen by celebrities and today I’m emotional and proud to see that came true on the red carpet of Cannes.”

Tuan became famous after his designs appeared at many domestic and international beauty contests. The designer is working on a new collection, which is expected to be released in July, as part of the 2023 Miss World Vietnam pageant.
Caylee Cowan, born in Los Angeles, California, is known for movies like “Frank and Penelope” (2022), “Willy’s Wonderland” (2021) and “Sunrise in Heaven” (2019).
