Google Photos’ Unlimited Free Storage Will Expire on June 1: How To Get More Space?
(Photo : Pixabay/Pexels ) The day that Google Photo users have dreaded is coming. On June 1, the unlimited free storage of the app is expiring and will be limited to 15GB. But there’s a catch.

The day that Google Photos users have dreaded is coming. On June 1, the unlimited free storage of the app is expiring and will be limited to 15GB. But there’s a catch: if you upload your photos before Google Photos storage limits to 15GB, it wouln’t count.

So, go on and upload as many cherished memories as possible for free. Hurry as the deadline nears.

However, let’s say, you missed the deadline and need more space for your high-quality photos. You will be asked to pay for the Google One subscription. It is what users are avoiding last minute this month.

But if you’re itching to get one, more information on that below.

    Limiting the Storage for Monetization

Google first announced this development last November.

Furthermore, it is part of the company’s efforts to monetize the data being stored in its services. Alongside, Photos, Docs, Sheets, and Slides will also impose a limit in storage. In addition, inactive accounts will be deleted.

Also affected by the particular move are Gmail, as well as Google Drive.

Thus, you may want to declutter your files from these said Google services to free up storage soon. All of them will only have a limited free 15 storage next month.

    Google Clarifies Monetization

However, Google cleared that it will not be using your photos for personalized advertising. The move will also not welcome a possibility of training the company’s articial intellegence through your photos, The Ringer reported.

This is a sigh of relief for users who maximized the storage of Google’s service. Most photos that users upload are, in fact, personal and not meant for a stranger’s eyes.

    How to Get Google One?

Google One is a storage subscription meant to help users manage high-quality photos and videos. Both usually hoard a significant space.

It is similar to Apple’s iCloud and Microsoft’s OneDrive. Additionally, both are pesky thorns for Google as it faces stiff competition.

To add, Google One is priced competitively. It starts at $1.99/month for 100 GB. On the other hand, the most popular 1 TB plan only costs $9.99/month. The highest that it could go is at 200 TB, which is priced at $299.99/month.

Aside from being mere storage, Google One also has features for learning. It offers a bunch of machine-learning features to help students enjoy a more convenient workflow.

Furthermore, the storage service also gives Pixel users exclusive photo-editing features. It could make blurred or low-quality photos clearer. In addition, Pixel owners may also blur the background for their portrait photos. It is similar to the iOS signature camera focus.

If you’re interested, Google One’s website has a tool to further estimate how much storage is needed based on your current usage.
