Google Docs’ Canvas-Based Rendering Update to Affect Chrome Extensions: How to Prevent This

Google Docs will soon receive an enhancement that will further improve its performance. The search engine giant announced its Google Docs update, saying that it will soon change the way in which the popular online tool renders documents.

However, some experts claim that this could also affect how some Google Chrome extensions work in the tech giant firm’s browser.

On the other hand, the giant tech company explained that in the coming months, it will start to migrate away from the HTML-based rendering approach, which is currently used in Google Docs.

Google said that its online document manager will soon transfer to canvas-based approach. To give you more idea, here’s why Google Docs’ upcoming update will negatively affect your Google Chrome extensions.

According to TechRadar’s latest report, Google Docs’ upcoming update will soon improve its performance and consistency when it comes to how content appears in various online platforms in the popular Docs tool.

Although this is the case, the new canvas-based rendering transition will still affect some Chrome extensions. Experts also claimed that this could stop some of the extensions from working.

Right now, Google Docs is designed to use HTML code, which Chrome extensions rely on to work properly. Once the popular document manager tool transition to a canvas-based rendering approach, some extensions will stop working.

But, Google said that you can fix this by updating all your extensions. Although this will soon happen, admins are still required to review all their extensions.
