The “Go Green with Taiwan” campaign represents a significant step towards global sustainability, inviting innovative minds from around the world to contribute to a greener future using Taiwanese technology.
Following the resounding success of the “Sharing is Caring” initiative over three years ago, the Taiwan International Trade Administration (TITA) and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) have announced a new global contest aimed at fostering environmental sustainability through the innovative use of Taiwanese products. The campaign, titled “Go Green with Taiwan,” invites groups from around the world to submit proposals that leverage Taiwan’s advanced technological solutions to promote a greener future.
The “Go Green with Taiwan” contest is designed to inspire diverse groups, including companies, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations, and public associations, to develop creative ideas that enhance both environmental and economic sustainability. The campaign seeks to build on Taiwan’s reputation for cutting-edge technological advancements and life-changing innovations, encouraging global cooperation in the pursuit of sustainable solutions.
Participants in the contest are encouraged to submit proposals that will undergo a rigorous evaluation process. The proposals will be assessed based on four key criteria: environmental and economic sustainability, feasibility, innovation, and the effective use of Taiwanese products or solutions. A panel of experts in environmental sustainability will review the submissions through multiple stages, culminating in a grand final.
Six finalists will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Taiwan, including round-trip tickets and accommodations. In addition, three outstanding proposals will be awarded a cash prize of $20,000 each. This opportunity not only provides financial rewards but also offers a platform for global recognition and collaboration.
The deadline for proposal submissions is August 31, 2024. The winners will be announced by late December 2024. This timeline allows ample time for participants to develop and refine their proposals, ensuring that they present the most innovative and impactful ideas.
James Huang, Chairman of TAITRA, emphasized the importance of this initiative in promoting the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) efforts of Taiwanese enterprises to the global community. He highlighted that the “Go Green with Taiwan” campaign serves as a critical platform for international partners to gain insight into Taiwan’s sustainability journey and to establish meaningful partnerships for future projects.
“Through the global call for proposals, we aspire not only to pursue business and technical cooperation but also to encourage Taiwanese industries to understand global sustainability issues and go international, creating more touching stories,” Huang said.
Cynthia Kiang, general director of TITA, underlined the urgency of addressing global climate change and rising energy demands. She stressed the need for immediate action in developing green energy and sustainable economic practices, with a focus on carbon reduction and green sustainability.
“To achieve this important goal, the government will actively collaborate closely with industries. Facing the climate crisis, we must resolutely implement the net-zero transition and promote ‘net-zero emissions’ and ‘clean energy’ without delay,” Kiang stated.
The “Go Green with Taiwan” campaign represents a significant step towards global sustainability, inviting innovative minds from around the world to contribute to a greener future using Taiwanese technology. This initiative not only showcases Taiwan’s commitment to environmental stewardship but also encourages international collaboration in tackling some of the most pressing issues of our time. Participants are encouraged to submit their proposals by the end of August 2024 and join the movement towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly world.
