The iPhone 12 mini was able to score 14th place in DxOMark’s constantly evolving ranking of phones tested thanks to good overall performance in photos and videos.
Accurate exposure (scene and target) and fast, pinpoint focus were cited as the small iPhone’s strengths, while the occasional blue noise and glare in the white balance were issues.
DxOMark was able to make the iPhone 12 mini clip a few highlights in some scenes (case in point – an indoor shot where the phone made the room brighter in favor of the tiny slit of light in the window. ), indicating a limited dynamic range, compared to its rivals.
As expected, the iPhone 12 mini scored identical points to the iPhone 12 and dropped points to the zoom-equipped iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max.
