DJI launched FPV, a hybrid drone that combines the first-person perspective, speed and agility of racing drones with the ease of use and built-in camera functionality of consumer drones.

The DJI FPV features high performance motors that can take it from standstill to 100 km / h in just 2 seconds while reaching a top speed of 140 km / h. The drone includes three flight modes; Normal mode, which is designed for novice pilots and allows the drone to hover in place and detect obstacles. Manual mode removes the drive wheels and gives full control over the flight, with all sensors and hover disabled. Finally, a Sport mode retains some of the safety functions of Normal mode and the manual control of Manual mode.
Whichever mode you are in, the DJI FPV includes an emergency braking and hover function, which can be engaged at any time, in any mode with the push of a button. A return home function allows the drone to return to its point of origin manually or in the event of loss of connection. An ADB-S receiver will also alert pilots of any nearby aircraft or helicopters.

The key element of the DJI FPV are the DJI FPV Goggles V2. The drone can send images up to 10 km, with two auto-switching frequencies, a bit rate of 50 Mbps and anti-interference technologies. Pilots will have two viewing modes; the standard low latency HD mode has a resolution of 1440×810 at 60 fps with 142 ° FoV or 50fps with 150 ° FoV. Latency in this mode is less than 40ms. In Smooth mode, the resolution is the same but you get either 120 fps with 142 ° FoV or 100 fps with 150 ° FoV with less than 28 ms of latency.
In addition, you can connect up to eight glasses so that more people can share the pilot’s view.
The DJI FPV has a 4K / 60p 120Mbps camera mounted on a gimbal. You can also record 4X slow motion at 1080 / 120p. Videos can be saved in H.264 or HEVC format. The camera also offers RockSteady digital image stabilization from DJI.
The DJI FPV is priced at $ 1299 and includes 2 remote control, Goggles V2 FPVs, cables, and a battery. DJI will also offer a stand-alone motion controller, which allows the pilot to control the drone with hand movements, for $ 199. You can also get the DJI FPV Fly More Kit, which includes two additional batteries and a charging hub for $ 299.
