Apple is opening up Find My location services to third-party products, expanding what has until now been a way to track down iPhone and the company’s other devices. The newly-updated Find My app now includes support for the Find My network accessory program, with Belkin, Chipolo, and VanMoof first to join up. It’s an expansion of the Made for iPhone (MFi) Program, Apple’s official program for third-party accessories. Any Find My network participants will have to comply by Apple’s existing privacy protections, too; there’ll be a new badge, “Works with Apple Find My,” for products and packaging. It’ll mean that,…

Samsung has unveiled its 2021 A-Series smartphones, and if you’ve been waiting for affordable 5G then Android handsets like the A52 5G, A42 5G, and A32 5G might fit the bill. Launching across various US carriers from later this s week, the three new 5G devices – and two even cheaper 4G LTE A-Series phones, the A12 and A02s – significantly undercut the Galaxy S21 family, despite grabbing a fair few of their features. Samsung Galaxy A52 5G Headliner of the new 2021 A-Series is the Galaxy A52 5G. It has a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED Full HD+ display which, for…
THX is wading into the consumer electronics space, and if you’ve ever wished for higher-quality music from your smartphone, the THX Onyx might fit the bill. Designed to plug in-line with your headphones and your iPhone or Android device – or, indeed, your Mac or Windows computer – it packages a tiny DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) with the company’s THX AAA amplifier tech. While 3.5mm headphone jacks have been a vanishing feature on modern phones, we’ve also seen a general push toward convenience over absolute quality. Streaming music at mediocre bitrates, Bluetooth headphones with limited bandwidth, and phone DACs that aren’t…
Ring has a new addition to its camera-toting security light line-up, with the Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro promising smarter detection and more useful alerts. Like the Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2, launched back in February, this new floodlight camera borrows tech more familiar from modern cars, with a radar sensor to power 3D Motion Detection. With that radar, the system can gather much more precise distance information for anything that might move in range. Not only can it understand that movement, but the distance at which it’s doing so, allowing for more granular control over what threshold homeowners get…
Fender has added a new personal amp to its line-up, with the Fender Mustang Micro not only adding some individual amplification but throwing in tones and effects too. Joining the Mustang series as the smallest – and most affordable – model, the Mustang Micro is more compact than a cellphone but still has space to fit Bluetooth and more. Unlike standalone amps, the Mustang Micro is designed to plug directly into the guitar’s output. A set of wired headphones plug into it in turn, and then you get a choice of 12 different amp models to flip between. There are…
Sonos Roam isn’t just the company’s most affordable connected speaker so far, it also introduces a new feature to make managing music playback easier. Sound Swap allows you to bypass the app when you’re in a hurry to get going, flipping music from a traditional Sonos speaker over to your Sonos Roam so you can head elsewhere in the house or outside. Sound Swap makes juggling playback easy If you want to move your music from a fixed speaker to Roam, you could of course use the app. That takes a few button presses, however, which is where Sound Swap…
Sonos Roam reviews may have dropped this morning, but the new portable speaker isn’t the only thing the company is getting excited about, with the prospect of a new IKEA Symfonisk launch in the pipeline. The collaboration between Sonos and IKEA broke cover back in 2019, with two initial products tapping the multi-room audio tech of one company and the low pricing strategy of the other. Most affordable was the IKEA Symfonisk bookshelf speaker. At $99, it’s half the price of a Sonos One, though with similar audio performance. It’s also designed to be positioned either horizontally or vertically, and…
Sonos needs a gateway for new users, and the Sonos Roam is its answer. What looks like a regular Bluetooth speaker actually hides double the functionality: a portable speaker when you’re on the go, a full-fledged Sonos speaker around the house, and all wrapped up in a ruggedized housing and the company’s lowest price for a new speaker so far. Okay, at $169 it’s cheap for a Sonos product but on the expensive side for a Bluetooth speaker. This isn’t Sonos’ first ride on the portable speaker rodeo, of course, though Roam sticks far closer to the mainstream than Move ever…
TP-link has been making networking gear and other products for a long time. The company has debuted its latest AX5400 dual-band gigabit Wi-Fi 6 router called the Archer AX73. The router supports data speeds of up to 5400 Mbps for fast browsing, streaming, and downloading various content at the same time. Support for Wi-Fi 6 gives the router the top structure of 4T4R and HE160 on the five gigahertz band allowing for 4.8 Gbps connectivity. HE160 technology doubles the bandwidth while the router supports six simultaneous streams. TP-link says the typical Wi-Fi 5 router only supports speeds of up to…
Although it has long been playing in the PC gaming market, Lenovo’s Legion brand arrived late to the smartphone game. While the likes of the ASUS ROG Phone is already at its fourth major iteration, Lenovo will only be announcing its second gaming phone this week. The Lenovo Legion 2 Pro, however, has a few tricks up its sleeves that keep it distinct from its peers, including a different spin on the built-in cooling fan design, no pun intended. The Lenovo Legion 2 Pro won’t be the first phone to have a tiny fan keeping things cool, at the expense…
