The Ministry of Health confirmed 60 new Covid-19 patients Friday evening, including 59 local cases and an imported one. Among the new community transmissions, Bac Ninh has 33, Hanoi has 12, Bac Giang 6, Da Nang 3, Thai Binh and Dien Bien with one each. All cases were contained within the quarantine zones. 30 more Covid-19 infection cases were reported in Vietnam on Friday morning, raising the total number of patients in the country to 3,740, the Ministry of Health has reported. According to the ministry’s report, 29 of the newly-confirmed patients are locally-transmitted cases who were detected in quarantine sites or areas under lockdown, including 10 in Bac Giang Province, nine in Hanoi, six in Bac Ninh Province, and four in Lang Son Province. Da Nang has banned gatherings of more than five in public and outside of offices and schools in its latest move against coronavirus spread. Le Trung Chinh, chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, issued the decision Thursday night, which is a step beyond the city’s previous limitation of no more than 30 people in a gathering. Ho Chi Minh City authorities have ordered local police to re-establish 12 checkpoints at the city’s gateways to beef up coronavirus spread containment. Accordingly, these checkpoints will begin operating at 0:00 am on May 15 at the city’s entrances. E-wallets in Vietnam have strongly benefited from the change in payment habits during the Covid-19 pandemic. Vietnam’s mobile e-commerce is rapidly growing with an estimated value of US$10.2 billion by 2023, according to 2021 Vietnam Mobile Application Report, conducted by the market research company Appota. The report revealed that mobile e-commerce is showing dramatic growth as it accounts for nearly half of all business-to-consumer e-commerce revenue in Vietnam.
