It was a shameful display for Arsenal when they could not overcome Burnley in the home ground Emirates and accepted a loss. With this defeat, Arsenal continued their losing streak in the home ground to the number 4.
Arsenal lost again, and it was not the first time the team suffered from such a shameful like this before in Emirates stadium. In the showcase against Wolverhampton on Nov. 30th, Arsenal also struggled with a loss in Emirates stadium. After 12 rounds of Premier League, Arsenal dropped to the 15th position and got the worst starting of the season in history.
A defeat against Burnley was also the first time Arsenal lost to this opponent since 1974.
At the very first minute of the game, Arsenal controlled most of the situation and created several good chances towards the goal of Burnley. Unfortunately, no shots were in the back of the net of Burnley.
In this match, Arsenal depended solely on the contribution of wingers, and that tactics were not proper against Burnley in the second half. Arsenal controlled the early minutes of the first half but gradually lost possession to Burnley in the second half and in the end, they lost the game after an own goal scored by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Though Aubameyang was the one who scored an own goal, it was the international Swiss player Granit Xakha who stood the most responsibility for this defeat of Arsenal.
He received a silly red car after such a silly situation with Burnley Ashley Westwood. After losing the service of Xakha, Arsenal also lost possession on the midfield and Burnley got more opportunities to approach Arsenal’s net in the rest of the match.
Arsenal was supposed to lose with a larger margin if Burnley could cash in some shots. A missing header from Chris Wood was the best example.
Anyway, Burnley got three points and pushed Arsenal to a further position in the fixture. With this defeat, Arsenal is now ranked at the 15th position.
