In Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter for Bloomberg, he talked about Apple’s plans for the Mac Mini with M2 and M2 Pro chips, while the tech giant is still in the process of launching the product.
Apple’s Mac Mini and M2 Pro
According to Bloomberg, Gurman says Apple has been working on an M1 Pro version of the Mac mini, which will launch in late 2022 or early 2023.
Gurman said Apple fans can expect a Mac Mini refresh to include both M2 and M2 Pro options, and the devices won’t be getting a major redesign anytime soon.
According to 9to5Mac’s report, Apple is developing two new versions of the Mac mini. One has the M2 chip and the other with the M2 Pro.
The new Mac Mini, codenamed J472, will be powered by the M2 chip. The M2 Pro Max mini, on the other hand, is codenamed J472 and will feature eight performance cores and four efficient CPU cores.

Apple also has no plans to release a version with the M2 Max or Ultra chips for the Mac Mini, which 9to5Mac says will be kept for the Mac Pro.
Regarding the various M2 chips, Gurman thinks the Mac Studio could be a short-lived product, as he doesn’t “seem to have the goal of having both a Mac Studio and a Mac Pro, because they can’t be the same.” and address the same group of users .
As previously reported by Bloomberg, Apple fans can also expect a new M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pro from mid-2022, although these computers may be delayed until early 2023.
Apple’s M2 Max MacBook Pro
According to MacRumors, Apple is developing new versions of the MacBook Pro models, one of which is 14-inch and the other 16-inch.
What is known about the laptops so far is that they will get M2 Pro and M2 Max chips that will bring notable performance gains.
There aren’t many design changes for the updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. Apple has updated the look with the 2021 version of the M1 Pro and M1 Max machines, and the tech giant has mostly been using the same design for years.
The tech giant still uses an aluminum unibody design, but the shape has changed to be flatter and less curved at the bottom.
The laptops have an all-black keyboard, a huge Force Touch trackpad, and two speaker grilles on the side of the keyboard.
Current models of MacBook have mini LED screens with ProMotion technology, thin 3.5mm bezels on the top and bottom of the screen, and a notch with the 1080p webcam.
While there are no design changes, there will be internal updates with Apple reportedly planning to use M2 Pro and M2 Max chips in the latest MacBook Pro models.
According to Gurman, the M2 Max chip will have up to a 12-core CPU, up from the 10-core CPU in the M1 Max, along with up to a 38-core GPU from the current 32-core CPU.
