Antonio Garcia Martinez, whom Apple fired after employees protested against his misogynistic writing on women, said on Twitter that Apple — before hiring him — was “well aware” of his writing.
Garcia Martinez stormed to Twitter on Friday to break his silence. The said former Apple employee has not issued any statement since he and the company separated, until now.
On the other hand, the Cupertino giant already issued a comment on the matter, and consequently, the former employee accused the company of defamation.

Garcia Martinez started by narrating that Apple, the company he admired, pursued him to be with them.
“Apple actively recruited me for my role on the ads team,” the fired employee Tweeted. “Reaching out via a former colleague to convince me to join.”
He cited his experience in the advertising space as to why Apple — he claimed — persuaded him to leave his former role.
He goes on to Tweet that “I upended my life for Apple.” He even added that he had to let go of his dreams in writing to stay at the company for the long term.
Furthermore, the former employee reveals that Apple was aware of his book, which had misogynistic statements. He goes on to add that: ” My references were questioned extensively about my bestselling book and my real professional persona (rather than literary one).”
It also turns out that Apple fired him, he clarified. The fired employee called it a “snap decision.”
Apple knowing about the misogynistic writing is not surprising, Bloomberg reports. It also noted that the company has been known to have a strict process of recruitment. However, given that, the query goes to how he was able to withstand it and continued to be hired.
Garcia Martinez vs. Apple’s Employees
The said recruitment process was criticized by around 2,000 employees of Apple, on May 13. It ultimately led to the firing of Garcia Martinez hours after.
In a petition, the employees questioned: “hiring panels, background checks, and our process to ensure our existing culture of inclusion is strong enough to withstand individuals who don’t share our inclusive values.”
Apple said in a statement, after employees voiced out their concerns, that demeaning and discriminating behavior has no place in the company, The Verge reported.

Apple and Garcia Martinez
Apple hired Garcia Martinez, in April, to spearhead the advertising platform of the company.
The fired-employee was planned to be part of the efforts in boosting the ads technology of App Store, Apple News, and Apple Stocks.
