Apple yet again delayed the launch of its Podcasts app’s subscription feature which would see a launch for next month, June, instead of having it now and enjoying the voice-generated platform. Podcasts have been one of the top popular media in the world during this pandemic, especially as it brings a talk show content for people who wants to listen while doing something else.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought out a lot for people, showing them sides that they have not discovered yet, and brings a lot of things to face daily despite staying at home. One of the many changes COVID-19 brought is the enhanced or stronger reliance of people on media streaming platforms including that of Netflix, Apple TV+, Spotify, and more.
Last April, Spotify has launched a new subscription platform which mainly focuses on podcasts or talk show within the application. Initially, this feature is part of the original Spotify subscription which can be purchased alongside the music platform of the company. This was before Apple Music could launch their platform in May, which is now getting moved.

Apple Podcasts to Delay until June

Instead of launching its services to go head-on against the Swedish media streaming company, Apple is taking it slow and ensuring all the variables around it to be at their standards before launching. In the recent e-mail obtained by 9 to 5 Mac, Apple has advised podcast artists, producers, and others to wait until the following month before creating content intended for the iOS app.
It is known that the “Podcasts” app had been built-in with the iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone since their initial releases, meaning that it was an intended platform for media just when Apple was starting. Moreover, Apple Podcasts had little recognition during those times, especially as the world is looking into the audio-visual (AV) type of entertainment which mostly focused on film and television.
Moreover, the prominence of YouTube’s platform has overshadowed Podcasts, especially as talk shows or podcasts in the Google company has also focused on showing the face of the voice behind the media.
Apple Podcasts wants to Better Platform Before Launching
Apple has launched a variety of new features which center on its media for all types of listeners with iOS 14.6, which has been recently launched last week, May 23, for people to enjoy these types of content.
Apart from the new content and iOS, 14.6 update is SignTime, which is Apple’s latest venture to assist persons with disabilities to use the iOS platform.
The recent delay of Apple is to hopefully bring a new feature and have it on its best possible version, hence the company opting for a June release. The Cupertino giant is known to hold out its releases if it is not yet ready or up to their standards, including that of iOS 14.5, which has been more than 2 months in the making before releasing last April.
