A reshuffle at the top of Apple will see current vice president of hardware engineering John Ternus become senior vice president, while former senior vice president Dan Riccio will work on a “new project” at Apple.
John Ternus has been Riccio’s vice president since 2013 and led the team that designed the hardware for the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro, as well as working on the M1 chip.
As SVP of Hardware Engineering, Ternus will lead the engineering of the Mac, iPhone, iPad and iPod and report directly to Apple CEO Tim Cook.
Meanwhile, Dan Riccio will also continue to report directly to Cook on a special “new project” that Apple is yet to reveal.
Reports suggest Riccio could fill a recent suspected vacancy in Apple’s self-driving car project.
This top-secret project is currently being led by John Giannandrea, Director of Artificial Intelligence, which means he and Riccio may soon be sharing the project.
