Google has refreshed its Android TV interface to be more like the Google TV user interface that debuted with the latest Chromecast in September.

New Android TV interface
For context, Google TV is the new interface for the company’s smart TVs and Chromecast streaming sticks. It is still based on Android TV although it has a separate user interface. It is available on the latest Sony and TCL TVs and is expected to become the user interface of choice for new TV models in the future.

Old Android TV interface
Android TV’s new update replaces the old, vertically scrolling app list with more streamlined, map-shaped tabs. The top of the Home screen contains the Home, Discover, and Applications shortcuts. Google TV still looks slightly different with its For Your tab being the default home screen and separate category listings for live TV, movies, shows, apps, and your content library.

Google TV interface (for reference)
The new update is currently rolling out to compatible TVs in the United States, Canada, Germany, France and Australia, other regions will receive the update in the coming weeks.
