According to a new DigiTimes report, Apple’s next AirPods Pro 2 will launch in the first half of 2021. The new information comes from anonymous industry sources that specify Taiwan-based Winbond Corporation as the primary supplier of NOR flash memory for the new AirPods Pro.
Previous reports have claimed that Apple will change the design of the AirPods Pro to a more compact round form factor, eventually eliminating the rod. It will be interesting to see how this design turns out in terms of ergonomics and to stay in users’ ears without falling out. Apple is also expected to release a new internal W2 chip with the new AirPods Pro.
Speculated design of AirPods Pro 2
We have already seen leaks of the alleged AirPods Pro 2 in-card (SiP) system which shows a more compact design in two sizes possibly indicating an increasingly smaller AirPods Pro version.
