Vietnam health ministry announced more 14,922 new cases of COVID-19 across the country on Friday, the second-highest number reported in a single day since the pandemic began. As of today, the country has recorded 501,649 Covid-19 cases since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. It was announced in Budget 2021 that interest on Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and Voluntary Provident Fund (VPF) contributions above Rs 2.5 lakh in a financial year will be taxable. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has, on August 31, 2021, notified the rules regarding the taxation of the interest on the excess EPF contributions.
