I usually apply my skincare products between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. after my shower, but I don’t see much improvement. Should I change the duration of my treatment? (Ngan, 25 years old, Tien Giang)
While our skin self-repairs, recovers and improves when we sleep at night, this is also the time when the nutrients in skin care products work most effectively. For this reason, it will be preferable to apply skincare products shortly before sleeping, between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m.
Our body produces a huge amount of melatonin and HGH (human growth hormone) when we sleep. The first helps repair damage to our skin by replacing dead or damaged cells with new ones, while the second is responsible for improving the skin cell regeneration process.

Our skin is not exposed to harmful factors such as makeup products, pollution and UV rays while we sleep. Therefore, the evening is the ideal time to enjoy a complete skincare routine, including makeup removal, facial cleansing, exfoliation, toner, antioxidant serum, application of acne treatments and hydration with masks.
The number of cells our body generates between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. could be double that of other times. For this reason, your skin can look noticeably better after just one night of going to bed earlier, and applying skincare products before going to bed will better stimulate the effect.
