Vietnamese businessman Nguyen Dinh Tuan Viet was revealed as the anonymous buyer of the world’s largest bottle of whiskey for £1.1 million ($1.4 million) last year.
The HCMC resident added the 1.8 meter tall bottle containing 311 liters of 32-year-old Macallan single malt to his collection worth more than $190 million.
Last year the bottle of whisky, called Intrepid, was sold at international auction house Lyon & Turnbull in Scotland, but the name of the buyer was not revealed.
The bottle, which contains the equivalent of 444 standard bottles, was certified as the world’s largest bottle of Scotch whiskey by Guinness World Records in September 2021.
The United Kingdom Guardian The newspaper quoted Viet as saying, “I have spent my free time collecting these bottles for decades.
“The history and traditions of whiskey making give each its rarity, and that’s the value I see in every bottle.”
Le Viet began collecting rare bottles of whiskey and cognac in 1996.
