According to preliminary statistics released by the General Customs, the whole country imported 22,736 CBU cars in November, with a total turnover of USD 468 million, an increase of 58.8% in volume and 46.7% in terms of sales in compared to October.
Overall, the whole country imported 151,590 CBU cars in 11 months, with a total sales of USD 3.4 billion, an increase of 4.7% in volume and 5.7% in sales compared to the same period last year.
Thus, the import result of this item in the past 11 months is close to the record number of the entire past year (in 2021, the whole country imported nearly 160,000 vehicles, total sales of USD 3.65 billion).
In terms of the car import market, Indonesia surpassed Thailand as the largest car supplier to Vietnam with 63,987 vehicles, with sales of USD 934.4 million. Although Thailand loses the number one position in volume, it still leads in sales with 61,101 vehicles, a turnover of USD 1.2 billion.
China reached 16,240 vehicles with sales of USD 670 million, but the main vehicle lines of this market are trucks and specialized cars. With 141,328 vehicles, the three markets above account for 93.23% of the country’s total imported CBU cars.
Remarkably, only the first 15 days of November are counted, but the total number of imported CBU cars was more than the number of the entire October before (more than 14,300 cars). Overall, cars with 9 seats or less continued to account for a large share both in terms of number and value, contributing 119,604 vehicles and almost $2.3 billion to the car market’s import performance year-to-date .
In addition, the whole country spent USD 258 million on importing auto parts and accessories in the first half of November, from the beginning of the year to November 15, reaching USD 5.068 billion, an increase of 19.3% over from the same period last year, corresponding to an increase in sales of USD 820 million.
