Building on its momentum from COP29, Malaysia is strengthening its commitment to achieving net zero by 2050 through the theme “Climate Action Now: Pathways to Net Zero Unlocked” at COP30.
BELEM, Brazil, November 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Malaysia officially unveiled the Malaysia Pavilion at COP30, reaffirming the nation’s determination to play an active role in tackling the global climate crisis. Building on the progress made at COP29, the Pavilion reflects Malaysia’s national approach and its continued journey towards achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, while strengthening its leadership in the region.
Themed “Climate Action Now: Pathways to Net Zero Unlocked”, this year’s pavilion reflects Malaysia’s continued progress. By bringing together the voices of government, industry and civil society, the country is moving towards carbon neutrality through strong governance and private sector engagement. Proud to be one of the world’s three major rainforest countries, Malaysia also champions biodiversity and nature-based solutions as key pillars of its transition to a low-carbon economy. As ASEAN Chair in 2025, the country is further deepening regional collaboration, reflecting its broader “region-wide” vision, accelerating collective climate action and shaping a more sustainable future for all.
Building on the momentum of Malaysia’s participation in COP29 in Baku, where the nation championed the “ShIft for Sustainability – Climate Action Now!”, COP30 marks an important step forward. It will also highlight not only the country’s ongoing progress, but also the broader commitment to climate justice for vulnerable communities, innovative approaches to adaptation finance, and the delicate balance between conservation and sustainable development.
At COP30, the Malaysia Pavilion will highlight five key thematic areas that embody Malaysia’s transition to net zero emissions:
- Restoring rainforests, rivers and reefs
- Energy transition pathways for developing countries
- Climate justice in the Global South
- Sustaining water, food systems and industry
- Unlock funding for Net Zero
“As COP30 in Belém calls for an “implementation COP”, Malaysia is preparing, decisively moving from promises to measurable actions. We aim to drive tangible, transformative change that will realize our aspiration to achieve carbon neutrality and secure a sustainable future for all,” said Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES), Datuk Nor Yahati binti Awang.
“Malaysia’s participation in COP30 clearly reflects our commitment to global climate action. It underlines our commitment to advancing not only a national approach but also a comprehensive regional effort that unites our partners in a spirit of shared responsibility and cooperation,” she added.
The Malaysia Pavilion will also host a series of high-level dialogues, panel discussions, report launches and collaborative sessions designed to advance regional and global conversations on climate resilience. Key highlights include chapters dedicated to Malaysia’s strategic focus areas such as:
- Day 1: Launch of the Malaysia Pavilion
- Day 2: Safeguard our ecosystems
- Day 3: Adaptation in action
- Day 4: Grounded in resilience
- Day 5: Trigger energetic change
- Day 6: Finance the future
- Days 7-10: Sustainability Synergy, Emerging Voices for Change, Diversified Green and Blue Economy and the Paradigm of Progress
