A delivery man in HCMC was arrested after snatching a Turkish woman’s phone while transporting goods for a company.
Nguyen Huu Truong, 38, was arrested on Thursday for theft by HCMC police.
Bukun, 29, a Turkish teacher, was walking on Thong Nhat Street in Go Vap district on August 29 when her iPhone 13 was grabbed by a man on a motorbike. Bukun called for help and tried to chase the man, but failed.
Camera footage revealed that the suspect was wearing a delivery service uniform, with the Ahamove logo on it.
Officers then raided a house in District 12 to arrest Truong.
Truong admitted that he was an employee of Ahamove and, as he was about to deliver goods, he snatched the victim’s phone. He then sold the phone online for 2.8 million VND ($115.58).
The police returned the phone to Bukun.
