Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher of Sky Sports recently met each other and revealed their personal best English Premier League squad of 2020.
The year 2020 has been a strange year of English Premier League. So many things happen in the year of 2020, but the most impactful has to be COVID-19. It canceled out several major sports’ events of 2020 including European Championship of 2020 and the Olympic Games in Tokyo. English Premier League definitely is not standing out from that cycle, but no matter what has happened, the league remained to be a tough one. Recently, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher of Sky Sport have spent time to sit together and share their opinion about the best English Premier League squad of 2020.
There are some obvious names who absolutely have to be involved in the squad of Neville of Carragher. Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, and Spurs’ Harry Kane and Son Heung-min are deserved name in this squad. Besides them, there are some strange names that Neville and Carragher have chosen. Let’s look briefly at the squad right now.

Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker
A phenomenal goalkeeper of Liverpool, Alisson Becker deserves to see his name in this squad although Hugo Lloris, David de Gea, and Ederson Moraes are also good goalkeepers of the English Premier League. Carragher described Alisson as an indispensable part and that when he missed the game against Aston Villa this earlier time of the season, the whole team lost to the Birmingham opponent.

Defenders: Virgil Van Dijk, Conor Coady, Andy Robertson, and Trent Alexander-Arnold
Neville admitted that the center backs position were more arguable than the fullback positions. There are no fullbacks that can be better than Alexander-Arnold and Robertson as the fullbacks, but when it comes to the center backs, it is a big debate between Neville and Carragher.
The duo listed out four names as the good candidates beside an unquestionable Van Dijk. They put Eric Dier, Harry Maguire, Ayermic Laporte, Tyrone Mings and Conor Coady on their paper and then picked the captain of Wolves Coady in the end. They picked Coady since his stats is better than the rest.
Carragher supported that ideas, believed that Coady had such a breakthrough year for himself after such a long time searching for a recognition.

Midfielders: Jordan Henderson, Kevin De Bruyne, and Bruno Fernandes
All of these midfielders stand out in certain ways. Henderson was the fearless fighter of Liverpool, tackled the balls until the last breath and gave what ever he got for the team. While De Bruyne and Fernandes are the artists with balls under their feet who are capable of creating unimaginable passes and assists.
De Bruyne was the bright spotlight of the season of a terrible Manchester City whereas Fernandes was the unquestionable best Red Devil of the last season. The trio is absolutely an outstanding option of Neville and Carragher.

Strikers: Mohamed Salah, Son Heung-min, and Harry Kane
The mightiest attacking trio like Salah, Son Heung-min, and Kane is a nightmarish challenge for any defense. Imaging what might happen when Salah or Heung-min has the ball underneath their feet. A good pace will happen, then maybe a cut inside or a good cross which can cause a goal.
Kane is a complete forward of the English soccer, and no doubt why he was included in the list. A strong target man will lead this squad. What a powerful – at the same time balanced – team that Neville and Carragher have picked.
