“I understand that it is my responsibility to apologize to the fans who have devoted their love to me, whose support has motivated me in recent years,” the singer wrote in an open letter to the public and the media .
“I have always been aware of my strengths and weaknesses since beginning my career in the entertainment industry, and I have tried to complement my personal style while pursuing my chosen music genre.”
During Linh’s September 6 press conference announcing her first solo concert, titled “Vietnamese”, the singer received two questions from a reporter.
Regarding the first question about her live singing, the singer answered the question with a question and made a metaphor instead of answering directly.
She told the reporter to imagine that she was able to walk, but some people thought she couldn’t because they once saw her accidentally trip on a rainy day. She then asked the reporter: “So, do you think I can walk?”
When asked about musician Ho Hoai Anh’s role in her concert, Linh spoke of “humanity” instead of once again providing a direct answer.
“I don’t want to talk about what’s right and what’s wrong, I just want to talk about humanity, which fuels everything in life,” she said. “I want people to support those who are talented and those who stood by me when I faced difficulties.”
The reporter then clarified that he just wanted to know if Anh was playing the role of a music director or sound engineer at the concert, to which Linh replied, “What kind of title are you going to give to your article ?
She then brought the reporter on stage and asked him about his values. Much of the public criticized Linh after the event, with many saying her answers were ambiguous, lacked precision and did not directly target the questions.
Nguyen Phong Viet, an experienced communications expert in the entertainment field, said Linh handled her interview questions poorly despite starting her career in the entertainment industry more than 15 years ago.
“I think Linh should behave more cautiously and show respect to those who ask questions, especially during a press conference,” Viet said.
Linh, 35, who started her career in the entertainment industry as an actress, rose to prominence in 2007 after starring in the sitcom “Nhat Ky Vang Anh” (The Daily Life of Vang Anh).
She made her musical debut in 2010 and has enjoyed moderate success in the music industry.
She was named Vietnam’s Best Asian Artist at South Korea’s Mnet Asian Music Awards 2019 (MAMA 2019), and her song “See Tinh” (See Love), released in 2022, went viral worldwide, with many international artists praising it and posting videos of themselves dancing to it.
His solo concert “Vietnamese” will take place on September 29 at the Phu Tho Indoor Stadium in HCMC.
