    XI’AN, China, January 5, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — The world’s leading solar technology company, LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “LONGi”), today announced that it has set a new world record of 27.09% for crystalline silicon heterojunction efficiency. back contact solar cells (HBC), certified by the Hamelin Solar Energy Research Institute (ISFH) in Germany. The 27.09% efficient HBC cell was independently developed in LONGi using an all-laser patterning process. This is a new world record for monocrystalline silicon solar cells, breaking the 26.81% efficiency record announced in 2017. November 2022.

    To alleviate the problem of high back contact cell patterning cost, LONGi R&D team pursued technological innovation, abandoned the expensive photolithography process, and successfully developed an all-laser patterning process. The all-laser patterning process was used in the recording cell at 27.09% efficiency.

    Another advantage of HBC cells over heterojunction bifacial solar cells is the reduced use of transparent conductive oxide (ITO) layers. Through continuous technological improvements, LONGi’s R&D team has developed an ultra-thin TCO layer with reduced indium usage. The record cell’s indium usage of 27.09% efficiency is only 1/5 that of traditional heterojunction bifacial solar cells.
