The event celebrated the culmination of the promotion of the warning of Silk Road Museum (SROM) of this year, which focused on the Steppe Silk road, marking a new chapter in the mission of the virtual platform to explore and preserve the rich heritage of silk roads.
Launched by China National Silk Museum and supported by more than 50 museums in the world, SROM is a collaborative digital platform dedicated to the presentation of the heritage of the Silk Road through virtual exhibitions. As a flagship program of the “Silk Road Week”, SROM incorporates digital collections and knowledge of museums along the historic commercial routes, allowing conservatives to design and present fully online exhibitions. Since its launch, the platform has welcomed three successful editions, covering themes such as “Desert and Oasis Silk Road”, “Maritime Silk Road” and “Tang Dynasty Silk Road”.
This year’s competition, on the theme of “Steppe Silk Road”, opened its doors January 24, 2025Attracting 204 teams – including students, designers and university conservatives – who used the virtual tools of the SROM platform to create immersive exhibitions. After three months of preparation and mentoring of experts, 53 entries were pre -selected for online display. Thanks to an expert assessment combination and public voting, 11 finalists qualified for the final round. On May 29The finalists presented their works via online presentations and questions of answers, with judges granting a Grand Prix, a first prize, four seconds of prices and five third prizes. In addition, 22 entries have received merit prizes for their creativity.
The award ceremony was a dynamic celebration, starring the performances of artists from the Internal Autonomous Region of Mongolia, the province of honor of the “Silk Road 2025” week. Participants appreciated traditional Mongolian horses violin performances (Morin Khuur), notably “Good Fortune”, “Ten thousand galloping horses” and classic melodies like “The Boundless Grassland”, alongside cultural presentations which highlighted the rich heritage of the region.
The event not only celebrated innovative online conservation approaches, but also embodied the spirit of the road to cultural exchange silk, bridging history and technology in a transparent way to create a dynamic showcase of global heritage.
