Safeena Husain recognized as winner of the Wise Prize for Education 2023 for his work with Educate Girls
Doha, Qatar, November 29, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, President of the Qatar Foundation, spoke at the opening of the 11th edition of the WISE Summit which will take place on November 28-29 in Doha, Qatarunder the theme “Creative Mastery: Human Flourishing in the Age of AI”.

During the opening plenary session, Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice President and CEO of the Qatar Foundation, received the prestigious WISE Prize for Education. This is the first global award of its kind to honor an individual for their outstanding contribution to education. Husain was recognized for dedicating 16 years to building a nonprofit organization focused on empowering communities for girls’ education in some of the India the most difficult to reach villages.
Over the years, Educate Girls has mobilized more than 1.4 million girls to enroll and supported more than 1.9 million children in their learning in India. Through a precise targeting method using AI, Educate Girls is able to target, in 5 years, the same number of out-of-school girls that would otherwise take 45 years. Through a network of more than 21,000 community champions in some of the country’s most marginalized communities, the organization works to break the intergenerational cycle of inequality and exclusion.
