The SJC gold price gained 0.07% to VND68.15 million ($2,827.80) per tael on Thursday morning.
The price of the gold ring increased by 0.26% to VND 57.2 million per tael. A tael is equal to 37.5 grams or 1.2 ounces.
Globally, gold prices firmed on Thursday as a fresh round of lackluster U.S. economic data bolstered expectations that the Federal Reserve would suspend rake hikes this year, although a rise in Treasury and dollar yields kept bullion on course for a monthly loss. Reuters reported.
Spot gold rose 0.2% to $1,946.17 an ounce, trading near a one-month high hit on Wednesday. US gold futures settled at $1,973.10.
Bullion is on track for a nearly 1% monthly decline as the US dollar eyes its first monthly rise in three and US Treasury yields see their fourth consecutive monthly rise after hitting 2007 levels the week last.
