STOCKHOLM, December 20, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — 5G’s potential applications for businesses across the agricultural value chain – from sourcing to field operations to production and distribution – are the motivation behind a strengthened technology partnership between Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and the Australian non-profit organization. for-profit organization AgriBusiness Connect.
Under a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the partners aim to create new industrial value using the high-throughput, low-latency, real-time data processing capabilities of Ericsson’s 5G solutions in public and private networks.
The partners seek to accelerate innovative productivity and efficiency solutions for agribusiness and related sectors to ensure Australia position at the forefront of Industry 4.0 adoption.
Founded in 2021 as AgriFood Connect, recently renamed AgriBusiness Connect (ABC) is an incubator that supports Australian agri-food businesses and the wider industry to help them meet the challenges of digitalization, Net Zero and the adoption of renewable energies.
In addition to direct agribusiness stakeholders, the Ericsson 5G partnership will target organizations supporting the sector in processing, packaging, warehousing and transportation.
The partners will target education and training for current agribusiness workers and work to raise awareness among policymakers about the difference 5G can make to the digitalization of agricultural value chains.

Ericsson has an ongoing collaboration with AgriBusiness Connect and the AgTech & Logistics Hub in the AATLIS precinct – an industrial-scale precinct in Toowoomba, Queensland. An Ericsson A private 5G system has been deployed on site in partnership with Telstra in 2022.
