According to AP, the AstraZeneca vaccine has a positive response against the coronavirus and it is the third vaccine to have 90% efficiency against COVID-19.
The vaccine is the collaboration between Oxford University and AstraZeneca. AstraZeneca shows a positive result against coronavirus in the trials in Brazil and the United Kingdom. AstraZeneca reported that all of the volunteers for their vaccines had a good response to it. Furthermore, the lab said that their vaccine has 90% efficiency against the virus.
Their trials for the vaccine were separated into two different groups. One group of volunteers would only receive a full dose of vaccine, while the other one will receive a full two doses of vaccine. The first group showed that they had 90% efficiency against coronavirus. However, the second group only displayed 62% efficiency against the virus. The average efficiency of the AstraZeneca vaccine is 70%.
Professor Andrew Pollard, part of the vaccine developing team, said that this finding could “save many lives.”
“Excitingly, we’ve found that one of our dosing regimens maybe around 90% effective,” Pollard said. British Health Secretary Matt Hancock also admitted that he felt a sense of relaxation as the efficiency of the AstraZeneca vaccine is high enough for the next step of testing and contributing.

Unlike the vaccines of Moderna and Pfizer, the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine does not have to be stored under extremely cold temperatures, and it is easier for contributing to tropical nations than Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
Pascal Soriot, the AstraZeneca CEO, said that the vaccine of his company would be affordable as it is the contribution of a non-profit project.
“This vaccine’s efficacy and safety confirm that it will be highly effective against COVID-19 and will have an immediate impact on this public health emergency,” Soriot said.
This news is a pain relief for some countries, specifically the U.S. Since the comeback of COVID-19, the U.S. witnessed a nightmarish increase of coronavirus positive cases. The new finding of AstraZeneca will also be pain relief for nations like Vietnam since the vaccine does not have to be preserved at extremely cold temperatures.
