HANGZHOU, China, September 18, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — On September 16, 2023, the Hangzhou Asian Games launched “Asian Games In Hangzhou”, the final part of the “Hangzhou Charms” trilogy. The short film brings to life the long-term influence and future legacy of the Asian Games on the host city.
The short film “Asian Games in Hangzhou” uses the traditional Chinese seal, which traces its origins back to 2,000 to 3,000 years of history, as well as Chinese calligraphy and traditional Chinese painting. The element “The Art of Chinese Seal Engraving” was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009, making it the first element in Hangzhou entered the List. The main organizations representing heritage: Xiling Seal Engraver’s Society, based in Hangzhoufounded over 120 years ago, which carved all the sigils used in the short film.
The Asian Games will be an important milestone in the history of Hangzhou, where it will play a leading role in sustainable development, urban regeneration and cultural development, talent migration, English learning, health and fitness projects. The legacy of the Games provided new opportunities that led to new interest in sport and fitness from local residents of all ages, resulting in more than 16 million bookings by the public for fitness , at 382 venues, including 45 Asian Games venues, on the Asian Games online portal. More than 11,000 venues and facilities are available to the general public as part of the games’ long-term legacy.
Currently, 51 of 56 competition venues have developed a post-Games operating plan, and 91% of all venues and operations have developed a sustainable operating plan for post-Games operations, which includes athletes’ village which, after the Games, will be used as a kindergarten.
The Hangzhou Charms trilogy describes some of the unique features that Hangzhou Asian Games athletes, officials, spectators and local communities will experience when the Games begin with the Opening Ceremony on September 23, 2023. Around 12,500 athletes from 45 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) will compete in 40 sports spread across 61 disciplines.
